These T-Shirts and Polos are Astonishing!

I have wanted to make beautiful polos and t-shirts for many years but couldn’t source high quality stretch cotton in Europe. Three years ago the Swiss mill Alumo I have bought from for over thirty years sent me swatches and a colour card of silky jersey cotton with plenty of body.

I ordered some sample lengths and we created a pattern for both, keeping our shirt collar construction for the polo as I wanted the collar to stand up well rather than collapse as many do.

Our Bespoke Pattern Cutter Samantha created the patterns, our sewing team studied the construction and we made our first samples. We created a pattern which would ideally work for all ages, finding a cut which had room and fell well but not voluminous or too fitted, which could be worn smart casually, casually with jeans or for sport.

The neck line, the circumference of the sleeves, the length, how to sew in the label for comfort are all so important. All were thought about.

Having laundered my husband’s Emma Willis t-shirts and polos for many years now, I study each time how they look post wash. They can be laundered normally at 40 degrees and however many times washed they keep their shape, full colour and silky finish, which happily we have heard from our customers too.
